BMX Riderz – Racing

Who can do it?  What do I need? BMX racing is open to all ages!  Appropriate pads, knees and elbows are essential.
How long is the race? A BMX race is very short and sharp. For a professional they typically last about 30 seconds. You could expect a  new/young athlete to complete a race in 1-2 minutes.
What does it look like? It looks the exact same to what the professionals use!  Lots of bike pumping, some jumps and very fast and  quick!
Go-Ride and   Regionals?Various Club races at Cumbernauld centurions &  Western Titans BMX clubs. Scottish regional BMX series  – 6 rounds of novice & expert racing from March to  August.  Scottish national champs – June   Scottish Open – September   Also good races at the north region BMX series which  runs throughout the same time frame. Good racing  and a step up for riders wanting a bigger challenge  before entering national competitions!
National events?  (BMX in Scotland is  a small community  so ‘National’ for us  is UK wide)HSBC BMX UK National series – (expert riders only – no novice racing) takes place from march – august all over  the UK. Always one round held in Scotland. The pinnacle of UK BMX racing. Great, competitive racing  from age 6 and up!
British events? The British BMX Championships – usually last bank holiday weekend in august at a venue in England.  Qualification is gained by competing at 5 rounds of a regional series at expert level. A fantastic event with over 1000 riders taking part. 2022 was in Bournemouth.
