It was the UCI World Cup this weekend at Fort William and I went for the first time. Yes, this isn’t me just culling a story from FB for once.
What a weekend, somewhat damp on the first day with very heavy showers interspersed with very heavy rain but it brightened on the Sunday until the sun was shining for the pros final on Sunday afternoon.
But the real attraction was the Saturday morning final of the Scottish Power mini Downhill, featuring our own Skye D and Gregor R. The conditions were not ideal, so poor in fact that the pro’s practice later that afternoon was cancelled entirely, but the kids were amazing – battling over slippery roots and sodden rocks and never stopping attacking. Gregor finished a creditable 5th against some very stiff competition (so stiff his time would have put him 8th in the u14s!) with Skye managing a fantastic SECOND!
