Wet’re BACK (almost).

The Glasgow Riderz IT bike shed has been on something of a hiatus for the last wee while as our IT team (pete) was injured however he is recovering and thus normal service may soon be resumed. As we like to hit with information from all angles remember  there’ll be a registration evening on 3rd March at the Palace of Art (but watch out for British Cycling emails for confirmation). We ran this for the first time last year and it was really successful, giving parents and coaches the chance to chat to the coaches and club committee without the pressure of either time or being surrounded by children on bikes.

Don’t forget we’re always on the lookout for stuff for the website and photos…

I’ve also been asked to nudge towards the Tour of Ayrshire Gran Fondo – there are age restrictions for entry into the worlds but it would still be great to see some of our riders entered. Age restrictions are below together with a link.

Chrono Minimum Age (For Info)

All riders MUST have reached their 19th birthday by 31st December in the year of the Event in order to count in the UCI Masters age classification results.

Riders who have reached their 16th birthday by 31st Dec in the year of the event but have not yet reached their 19th birthday by 31stDecember in the year of the event may participate in the Chrono but will be classified in as under 19.  There will be no prize giving or podium ceremony for this age classification.  In the U19 classification a Parental Consent Form is not required.

Riders who have not yet reached their 16th birthday by December 31st in the year of the event but have reached their 11th birthday by 31stDecember in the year of the event may participate in the Chrono on the condition that a completed and signed Parental Consent From is submitted to the organisers upon collection of the Race Pack at the event.  This group of riders are called Minors.

Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo Minimum Age

If a rider has not reached his / her 19th birthday by 31st December in the year of the event then the rider MUST enter either the Sport Community of the Gran Fondo or Medio Fondo as set out below:

  • If you are under 19 years of age by the 31st December in the year of the event but have reached your 16thbirthday by the 31st December in the year of the event, you are only permitted to enter and ride the Gran Fondo in the Sport Community or Medio Fondo Community.
  • If you are under 16 years by the 31st December in the year of the event but will have reached your 11thbirthday by the 31st December in the year of the event, you are a Minor and only permitted to enter the Medio Fondo and even then only upon the presentation, at the event, of a completed and signed Parental Consent Form.  For the avoidance of doubt the Parental Consent Form requires that a Parent or Guardian rides the Medio Fondo with the Minor.
