Prior to the Summer the IT Bike Shed (ITBS) was making a post a week with a summary of what we’d been up to. I genuinely thought that there wouldn’t be that much to write about over the summer so we closed up the bike shed and pedalled off down unexplored cycle paths…

How wrong I was – I’ll try and do a quick summary here but if I miss out anything drop me an email to the usual address and I will update it..

Youth Games

So I’ll start with congratulations to Lewis Stewart and Ellie Park who have been selected to represent Scotland Track Team at the Sainsburys Youth Games 2014 – good luck from all of us here at the IT bike shed…

All Over the UK

We’ve had Riderz competing as far away as Essex; had others selected for the Road inter-regionals and had yet more all over England. Well done to you all for taking the racing to ride with the best the UK has to offer (and to the coaches and parents who’ve supported them).

Ireland

One of the more prestigious events in the calendar was the Errigal International Stage Race in Ireland which saw Ellie take 2 stage wins.  Calum, Alexander and Andrew competed in the u16 WoSCA squad. Some horrendous conditions on TOUGH stages brought out the best in them. Alexander had a crash on stage 3 but made extra effort to finish the tour and completed stage 4 despite being sore to guarantee 32nd in GC, Calum stayed out of trouble and was super strong in every stage and especially in the hill stages and finished in 19th place, Andrew had a great weekend and upset everyone at the tour as he rode the tour in what the other riders were calling their “winter” bike to a top 10 finish on GC!!

MTB Squad

We have also got three Girls riding in the Scottish Inter-Regional MTB squad!

Crit under the Castle

There was a huge turnout from the Riderz for the Crit Under the Castle in Stirling in early August. Unfortunately after one of the better summers we have had the weather was somewhat brutal, great display from everyone though culminating in :- Jack Cruden, Scottish Champion; Ellie Park – Scottish Champion and wins for James Ballantyne and Imani too.  Ultimately though it’s well done to everyone who raced (from someone who tends to fall off when the road is that wet).
